Shane Van Boening has advanced to the semi-finals of the Florida Open Pool Championship, marking his second consecutive year reaching this stage and moving closer to redemption after finishing as runner-up last August. The five-time US Open champion defeated Joshua Filler and Francisco Sánchez Ruiz on his way through a tough bracket that included four former World Champions in succession.
Joining Van Boening in the final four are Jesus Atencio, Eklent Kaçi, and Alexander Kazakis. Atencio made history by reaching his first Matchroom Major semi-final after beating Chang Yu Lung and Albert Januarta, while Kaçi secured a spot for the third time this year following wins over Boris Ivanovski and Tyler Styer.
The final four will compete in two matches tomorrow to determine who takes home the Palm Tree trophy at the Caribe Royale Resort from August 4-9. Van Boening is set to face Eklent Kaçi, while Atencio meets Kazakis after defeating former World Champion Thorsten Hohmann and Petri Makkonen respectively. Can you predict which player will lift the title as Van Boening chases redemption?
