On October 20, a 30-year-old man named Witthawin was fatally struck and killed by passenger train No. 284 at a railway crossing in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district of Chon Buri province. The accident occurred on Chaiyapornwithi Road after the motorcyclist attempted to ride past a lowered barrier while traveling from Sukhumvit Road toward Nong Prue around 2:36 pm.
According to local railway officials and crossing attendant Suriya, Witthawin had been warned by an employee who shouted at him as he tried to pass through despite the red light being active and the gate down. Witnesses reported that the rider did not hear or heed the warning before the train made contact with his black Honda motorcycle, which was found severely damaged at the scene of the crash.
Following the incident, police cleared a crowd of bystanders from the area and conducted an examination of the crossing to document evidence for investigation purposes. Rescue workers transported Witthawin's body to a hospital where it remains pending arrangements by relatives for his funeral services. This tragic event highlights ongoing safety concerns regarding individuals ignoring railway barriers in Pattaya.
