A 32-year-old concrete mixer driver named Kittiphit Chinda was fatally shot while riding a motorbike home from work in Phuket. He died at the scene near Thep Krasattri Road in Thalang late on Wednesday, September 17th, after being struck once in his right temple by an unidentified assailant who had approached him as he traveled along the northbound lanes under the airport overpass.
Police quickly identified and arrested a 34-year-old colleague named Sommai from the same company later that night. Officers determined Sommai to be the shooter based on forensic evidence, including gunshot residue samples collected at the crime scene. While interrogated by both Phuket Provincial Police and Thalang Police, authorities searched Pa Khlok beach where Sommai resides for a firearm believed to have been hidden after the incident but which has not yet been recovered.
Sommai faces charges of homicide, illegal possession of a firearm, and carrying a weapon in public as investigators continue their efforts to establish the motive behind the attack. The case remains under active investigation with no further updates on potential suspects or recovery of evidence provided at this time.
