Thai fortune teller hands over 30 suspected human amulets to police

A 37-year-old Thai fortune teller named Min has handed more than 30 suspected human amulets to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) after suffering financial losses exceeding 3 million baht. She alleges that she purchased these items from a spiritual medium and an agent who claimed they were crafted from human body parts, including genitals, skulls, fingers, and foreheads. The agents marketed the objects as possessing supernatural powers such as success, prestige, charm, and love to attract Thai and international customers.

Min stated that after reselling the amulets, several buyers demanded refunds because the items reportedly lacked any special effects. Although Min reimbursed her customers to avoid legal trouble, she lost over 3 million baht when the original seller failed to compensate half of her losses as promised. She now seeks police assistance not only to recover her funds but also to determine if the amulets actually contain human remains and whether anyone has committed a crime in their production or sale.

Forensic medicine expert Weerasak Jaraschaisri noted that while some materials could be bone, DNA testing is required to confirm their origin. Police have not yet released findings regarding forensic tests on the submitted items. The investigation aims to establish where any human material originated and who was involved in its acquisition, with Min hoping to clarify whether an offense occurred during this process.

Would you like to discuss the legal implications of selling such amulets or share your thoughts on how authorities handle similar cases?
